Last night B and I watched the bluray version of the movie Gamer. I had heard about it when it was out, but I knew nothing about it really. Damn, this movie is a mind trip. If you haven’t seen it, rent it, buy it, download it off netflix, whatever you need to do.

I love my computer, it’s a freaking powerhouse. One thing I don’t like is continually going from Mac to PC mode. You often hear people bitching about Apple being better, or Windows is better. They’re idiots. Both operating systems are great for different things. All comes down to which is right for YOU.

Do I love Apple? Fuck yes. I loved Windows XP as well, hated Vista, on the road to loving Windows 7.

So my current system, I have OS-X on it as well as Windows 7, so I can boot up as an Apple, or Windows machine. Most of my software I have for my tasks is in Windows so I stay in Windows more times then I do in OS-X. The apple is far superior for video editing though, so what I was/am finding is that I need to be in OS-X almost as much as I need to be in PC mode. What to do, what to do… sure, I can run Windows while in OS-X mode via a VR software like Parallels etc that’s waaaay slower. Screw that.

I have two 30” screens for video editing in HD, but damn it… what I wouldn’t give for a second system.

www.geekbench.ca if you want to test your own machine. you want to see my profile… click here I even have the Mac Mini we use to run our Plasma tv in there. it handles our downloaded videos etc.  The first score you see above (11178) is my system in OS-X, the second score is my system in Windows 7. As you can see, OS-X is faster, but… not by enough that it matters.

I look at other webbies and almost all of them are running two systems. One for video editing, one for the other stuff. I bought the apple for bad ass video editing capabilities so that’s what I will use it for.

So last week, I took the jump. I ordered a new machine. Intel i7 920 with 8 gigs of ram, 3 1 tb hard drives (Seagate 7200.12), ATI FirePro V3750 video card (only 256 which is fine for pc side, my Mac runs with the Nvidia GTX 285 which has 1 gig of memory for video and that’s needed because of HD video editing).

I get the new box this upcoming week, probably Wednesday but I am shooting Ava Dawn and Bryci all day Wednesday so I’ll be setting uo the box Thursday probably. When i say shooting all day, I don’t mean girl/girl sets. I’m also shooting Bryci on Friday again so I’ll be busy. Maybe I can get the box going so the mac can be compressing HD videos while I am off shooting.

I’m going to use one of the screens for OS-X, one for Windows 7 so soon, my desk will be even more geeky. yay.
