It’s about 10 hours away from Apple’s unveiling of the Jesus Tablet, the tablet to reinvent the print industry into something viable again. Print has been losing money left right and center, hell… even Playboy themselves are closing shop in regards to printing magazines soon. Hard to compete with websites, ya know? Cheaper, easier, more fluid…
but what’s this? I can create a magazine and have it in subscription form… with advertisements from my sponsorship base and sell these on a wider basis, and save trees and reduce overall costs?
OMGOMGOMG
FUCK YEAAAAAH BITCHES!!! I GOTS ME TABLETS!!!!
Jesus Tablet will save all, and someday, my ass will use a credit card to buy one. er… I think B tells me no but if it’s really, really cool and I clean the house every day for like, two days..er.. a month..er… six months… maybe that will sweeten the pot a little.
In other news, it’s 11:31pm (pst), my arm is facked up sore from the skin cracking where I was inked, but it’s only day five, the skin doesn’t feel normal again till day 8-11 area. So I have at least 3 more days of uncomfortable pinches and tears. Meh, part of the gig. I can’t wait to go back. Yes, I is crazy. Soon though… I be crazy with tablet!
Wait till I start making apps for the motherfucker. It will be iPhone based so yes, apps will work.
Looking for JamesDot? There’s an app for that. Well, it’s been submitted to iTunes for approval.
not yet…but soon…
Hopefully they say yes, but I have a feeling they will say no dice. Meh, I’ll create a Bryci app next anyway.
ok.. bed time.. I shall be here tomorrow morning… 10am is Apple iTablet time, live from Cali. Sup.
Apple will once again change the game as we know it. The changed the way we listen to music when they brought us the iPod. No, they weren’t the first portable music player, but they were/are the best and it’s what the industry considers to be the standard to which all other portable music players are measured against.
They then brought us the iPhone and in 3 years, completely changed the cell phone world. If you’ve ever played with an iPhone for any length of time… hate it as you’d like to, you secretly end up wanting one for yourself. Yes, they are that cool.
Is this really the iTab?
Tomorrow, January 27th, Apple will introduce the iTablet or iTab for short. There have been many names connected with this new product, iSlate, iMactab, and others.. but I’m predicting the simplest, will prevail. iTab, short of iTablet. Hey, it’s a guess. We’ll know tomorrow right?
So what’s the big deal about this tablet thingy anyway? Why will it become a game changer? Simple… because of what it represents.
Digital print.
Amazon brought out the Kindle and it quickly became the fastest and best selling eReader available. Does it do video, games, all sorts of cool shit and also have apps? Nope.
Think of the coolness of the iPhone… in a larger format. Now think of all the trees not being destroyed because there is a viable option for digital print to the masses. Make the iTab internet friendly and it surfs websites, reads newspapers, browses catalogs.
This is what an Ikea catalog might look like for example. How cool is this?
Apple could save the print industry in a lot of ways by having them relocate digitally. That way they can still have their advertisers, people can subscribe digitally like they used to with magazines, newspapers etc. No more waiting for the newest copy to show up, no more month delay for news to be fresh. This can tie in with the company’s websites, rss feeds, you name it.
Starting to see how this is going to be a game changer, once again?
I’m sure I sound like an Apple fanboy and truth is, I do own a Mac Pro, an iPod, iPhone and soon… most likely, an iTab as well. I also own a windows 7 machine that I spend most my time on… so I am not completely in Apple’s grasp. I just like things that work, and so far, Apple is kicking everyone’s ass, badly.
I had high hopes for Droid and Google’s Android system but I think it will always fall just a little shy… hell, right now as it is Droid users are scrambling to sell their phones because of the 3G woes. I’m sure those will be fixed and you can’t have new technology without bumps.. so Android will improve.
An example of Wired magazine, or how it could work on the iTab.
Print magazines, books, newspapers… all available because you and I both know there will be hundreds of knock offs of the iTab within years of it coming out, just as there were with the iPod and iPhone. Now imagine the trees not getting shredded.
Sure, it’s not a perfect outcome, many trees will still be destroyed for other paper usage but still.. this is a step in the right direction isn’t it?
Apple keeps on getting richer. If you have money to buy stocks, invest as in, now.
Ok, so I’ve completed my first iPhone app. Apple allows nudity so we’ll see what happens. I have a feeling they will so no to my app because it’s a free app and it is from my blog and well, my blog often has nudes… so we’ll see what happens =)
The splash screen from the app…
we’ll see what happens and of course, I will keep you in the loop!

I like Apple. I own a bad ass Apple Mac Pro and I’ve always used boot camp on it, with Windows Vista 64 bit. I fackin HATE Vista so when Microsoft came out with Windows 7, two things were going to happen. One, I was going to kick Vista’s dumb ass to the curb and two, I’d see about getting a second computer to make work easier. Use the Mac for video editing, the PC for everything else.
So… I get the second system set up, it’s awesome. Windows 7 and none of the Vista hassles. +1 Microsoft.
Apple releases Snow Leopard as their bright shiny new toy and I grab it, thinking… Apple can do no wrong, their OS is amazing right?
Wrong.
Ever since installing Snow Leopard, my computer has been one sluggish pile of poop. My Mac Pro will be fine and then go to sleep for no reason, and won’t wake. I will be encoding HD videos for the site and poof! System goes to black screen, and nadda, she no wakey.
I have screen saver shut off, I’m very knowledgeable on computers so yes, I am 150% sure it’s not a setting I have screwed with. Hell, shut of the screen saver, power settings etc and what else is there to do? Damn thing still crashes/freezes/sleeps, whatever you want to call it.
I googled and I see Apple had this issue once before with MacBook Pro’s, when they moved from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7. It was some issue that would cause a kernel panic and boom, sleep baby, sleep. So they come out with 10.6.0 and right off the bat they have that retarded issue where if you use a guest account, it’ll wipe your main account. That’s just stupid, but on the upside, nobody uses my comp so guest account is never in use.
So they fix this with 10.6.1 or 10.6.2 and all should be fine. Nope. 10.6.2 and my system goes nappy time whenever it damn well feels like it. I see a ton of others posting in Apple’s forums about this as well. the support board is lit up with Mac Pro Freezes and Mac Pro Crashes on Sleep and Mac Pro Hangs etc.
Fail. Major fucking Fail.
So, I decided Snow Leopard is very much like Vista. In fact, I’d go so far as to say Snow Leopard is Apple’s version of Windows’ Vista. It’s seriously that buggy. They were prob in a race to deliver ahead of W7 and whoops, left some bugs. Software companies do this almost always anyway, get it to release candidate phase, release and let the first batch of humans that run it to basically be beta testers.
Fuckers.
So, Snow Leopard, suck my balls. Please.
I have gone back to Leopard and yes, this means I have to reinstall every single piece of software on my box, but then again, this might be a good thing. After all, new installs usually mean a cleaner system. Maybe this was a good thing.
I shall view it as a good thing.
Bryci was smart when I got Snow Leopard, she was like… ummm… I’m good. I don’t want to upgrade. I should have followed her lead on this. grumble grumble. Why do women always know what’s best? (rhetorical)
We have a Apple Mac Mini that we use in the living room. It runs the Samsung Plasma tv more or less in regards to, when we download a movie online… this is how/where we play it. It’s a pretty quick little computer all things said and done, it’s small, but looks can be deceiving. Geekbench wise, I can get 2756 with this. How does that compare against what you’re using now?
This sort of gives you an idea of how small it is if you’ve never seen one. They’re freakin’ tiny. The one we have is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.0Ghz with 4 gigs of ram. It came with a smaller hard drive, so I just today upgraded it to a brand new Seagate 500GB Momentus 7200.4 SATA w/ 16MB Cache. For those that aren’t tech/geek savvy… this is pretty much the top notebook hard drive you can buy before you go to solid state… which wouldn’t have been cost effective.
I’ve installed OS-X Leopard (10.6.1) on it and of course, Bootcamp to run Windows 7 Ultimate. I’ll probably leave it in Windows 7 mode 99% of the time, using Nod32 for security (best virus protection in the world, bar none). I am going with XBMC, because well, it’s the best out there for Media Centers when modding.
So with this thing up and running, using Windows 7 new feature ‚Äòhomegroup’, I can shuffle movies from my Mac Pro to the Mini in seconds, to watch them there, or just download them wirelessly from the Mini itself. 500 gig HD just for movies… yup, this will be fun.
