Upgraded

I upgraded the ram on my MacBook Pro today. I needed the extra speed for various applications, but mostly to be able to run the network without issue when away on trips etc.

I’m amazed at how fast laptops have become. To put things in perspective, in 2009 I bought a Mac Pro, loaded it with ram and it became my every day system for video editing, photoshopping, what have you. Geekbench wise, it registered a 11178 for the score. That’s pretty quick, for 2009.

Fast forward to right now.. I just changed out the ram on my laptop as I said. It’s the current MacBook Pro, 15”, 2.0 GHz. yes there are faster models but I don’t need the faster to be honest, this has a quad processor i7 which is more then quick enough for me. The speed between this and a 2.6 for example, barely noticeable and you pay a ton more. If you’re going to upgrade, upgrade your hard drive to SSD (check) and then your ram (check).

I ran Geekbench to see where it’s at.. 9749! Holy shit. This is a LAPTOP and it’s almost as fast as a dual xeon processor, 8 core Mac Pro (from 2008 mind you, but still).

Shit is getting fast! This will make it so much easier to be on the road and still be able to move Bella to the next level.

Yes, this blog was somewhat pointless.. but I was surprised how quick the score was. Thus, I blogged it. Hey, fuck you. it’s my blog. :p

Zen Desk

So Saturday, @Bryci and I hung the #JUUL painting we picked up online with help of @Taliashepard when it came to shipping out of the US.

It’s on the wall behind my desk, which is just cool as hell for me. I love this painting, it’s so peaceful. Hopefully it teaches me some basic things, like how to be nice. Some will see me having a huge picture of Buddha on my wall as me being a hypocrite. I am not a man of the cloth in that I don’t follow your god, his god, her god. Yet, I have a religious symbol on my wall, no different then a cross.

Well, I disagree in that I don’t slant this way or that way. I find myself liking the simple way of life that Buddhism seems to envelope though. Be kind to others, have respect for the earth, don’t be an asshole.. you know, the basics. Alright, the asshole thing was paraphrasing. Point being, you won’t find me going door to door trying to convert anyone. You won’t find me getting up early on Sunday so I can look down my nose on those not in my belief system. You also won’t seem me telling anyone they’re going to hell. Who am I to say these things?

So you do what’s right for you, I’ll do what’s right for me. Deal? :)

I saw a poster with things said by Dalai Lama that I thought was pretty cool, but I’m wagering some will think it’s hippy shit. I don’t know, it’s weird when you see so many people in such a rat race with others around them. Who drives the nicer car, who has the bigger house, who has the best this or that. Why bother? Why does any of it matter? I need a beautiful new Mercedes so others will see my huge shiny cock? Really?

When you’re laying on your death bed, will you look back on your successes or your failures? Myself, I’ll look back on my regrets, things I didn’t get quite right. I won’t care if I owned this or drove that.. but that’s me. How about you?

Why Android fails

Listen up #Android nerds, we both know you hate on the iPhone people for your own reasons. That’s cool, you might want to see this though. I have read tweets from people telling me Android has the same things iPhone. No, sorry, you’re wrong. That’s like saying.. my Chevette is as good as your Ferrari. Clearly they are the same, they both hand an engine and four wheels. Yeaaaaah boyyeeee my Chevette was 1/100th the price too!

Now to be clear, Android, iPhone, use whatever makes your dick hard but in the end.. you’re using a an OS that can be hacked and has viruses, exploits etc.

Yeah, sign me up for that. :(

I wish the iPhones were cheaper. I wish it was open source. Then again.. I don’t. By keeping it closed, the shit works.

Hate on Apple all you like, but sooner or later you’ll try it and once you drink the kool aid, they’ve got you.

I am Batman

I went to Walmart last night to get Batman – Arkham City. I saw it everywhere else for $59.99 and I had some other things to get so I figured I’d save myself a trip and get it all together. So I’m walking and I see an Xbox display…

Spy

So @TaliaShepard and @Bryci have spycams up. I thought… if I put up a spycam that i turn on from time to time.. I wonder if anyone would watch it?

So.. I set it up. It’s not online just yet, I am current waiting for a USB extension cord to get here. The cam is about 15 feet off the ground, situated on teak beam that spans our living room. The cam of course shows my messy desk. If I was on cam right now… it would look like this…

Some left to right for you.. the screen nearest the bottom is my Win 7 system, the two screens nearest the middle going to the top, those are OS-X. So yes, when i bitch about Windows, it’s not from a hater’s stand point. It’s from a Windows user that has been a Window’s user since 3.1. Yes kids, I know my Windows. I HATED Apple for the longest time. Then, I decided it couldn’t be any fucking worse then Vista. I was right. I haven’t looked back. I still use Win7 when I need to, rarely.. but I have it just incase I feel like swearing at the machine. Hell, I even have a Win blue screen of death as my desktop on my Mac’s to remind me how awesome Windows is. Don’t get me wrong, I like buggy not finished software as much as the next guy, their acquisition of Skype should mean more shit is breaking. Yaaaaay Balmertron.

So.. in closing.. my spy cam will be up when it’s up. I’ll post here about it, don’t you worry.

After that, you can feel free to stop by from time to time, get your stalk on. I’ll dance from time to time, maybe even have a windmill contest, feel me?

Now.. before I go, for those of you wondering why I use OS-X and swear by it fanatically.. one word.. UNIX. Mac’s OS is situated in UNIX so if you know UNIX to any degree, you get to make your comp yo’ bitch. Here’s a refresher for those in the know. If you don’t know unix, take the time if you’re a geek to learn it.. it’ll be the best thing you ever taught yourself.
