Arizona shooting trip. Day 15/24

It’s 8:10pm on a Saturday night, do you know where Jamesdot is? I’m sitting at my laptop, typing this out. Now, ask me where I’ll be in an hour. In the hot tub with Katie Banks and Bryci, relaxing, most likely drinking a muthafuckin beeeer!

Nothing sexual, get your heads out of the gutter. I mean, make no mistake, I’ll be fondling myself, but it’ll be under water so nobody will know. I’m kidding. sheesh. Tough rough.

I’ll be relaxing, drinking a beer, listening to the ladies discuss whatever it is they chose to discuss. I’ll be in the OMGILOVEHOTWATER zone

Today, was a great day of shooting Katie Banks. Tomorrow I shoot Katie and Bryci. Talia Shepard arrives tomorrow for a few days so I’ll be three girls deep in the Arizona pad where we’re shooting. Good times.

We went shopping this afternoon after we were done shooting. I needed to buy some new hard drives because I exhausted the two 500 gig drives I brought down as back up. I just bought two LaCie Rugged 1tb drives. Firewire 800. I would have prefered the USB3 models but they were sold out and this kid needed hard drives for back yup as in todaaaaayyyyy

I named the two drives Ren, and Stimpy. Powdered Toast Man would be hella pleased with me, no doubt.

So now I haz massive back up options. These are needed, because each image I am shooting is around 10-16 megs in size, per image and each set is anywhere from 60-100 pix.. so yeah, you add up hard drives quickly. We won’t talk about the massive HD video files… jebus.

Anywhooo….

How was your day? Mine was great, we hit up Chandler Fashion Square, did some shopping.. it was good. We then hit up Chilis for food, but that was meh.. should have hit up Garcia’s me thinks. I got a few interesting looks from guys, being that I’m the guy at the mall with two hot girls.. but fuck em, I’d hate me too. Tis all good.

Sunday is the ONE WEEK LEFT buzzer. Thank fuck. We cannot wait to get home. We’re going apeshit crazy down here being away from our baby (Jack, our dog, he’s our baby, yeah, I said that).

So that’s that.. time for me to check on the hot tub.

I just bought this book the other day off Amazon. It arrived a few days ago and I just started reading it. Michio Kaku is regarded as this generation’s Albert Einstein. This man is so far ahead of his time it’s insane. He is one of the co-founders of string theory as one example of his brilliance.

I started reading about M-Theory and the eleven dimensions, the age of our universe, the way each culture since man started to record it’s history, views how life started and how vastly different these theories are. I am hooked.

If you’re a wide eyed cat like myself, grab this book. It is amazing.

So with Back Friday, and then Cyber Monday, I picked up some new business toys. Hello write offs, how are you? I am fine. I needed a new screen for my Windows 7 machine, so I grabbed the Samsung 2494HM. Great monitor! HDMI + USB hub built in as well as on board speakers. I know, screens usually have shitty speakers… but this isn’t a system I watch movies on or listen to music on, this is purely my back up, doing blogging, thumbs, watermarking box When my other system is HD video encoding… this is my go to system. (thus, it doesn’t need speakers)

at home on my desk. It also rotates 90 degrees to portfolio mode rather than landscape so that’s cool beans.

In addition to the screen, I also grabbed two new Hitachi hard drives, 2tb each.. steal of a price like I had mentioned. Later today, my two extra drive trays for instant access into the Mac Pro arrive, as well as an additional 16 gig of ram for my video encoding box, bringing the total ram there to 40 gigs of DDR3 1333Mhz ram. Hey, don’t hate.. HD video editing has it’s needs. Lots of ram and lots of scratch disks. FCP has 3 blank 2tb drives for scratch as well as 40 gigs of ram to play with.. this means it should speed me up considerably.

Between those two holidays, I saves around 70% off what it would have cost normally so fuck yes, holidays are awesome.

I finally got my hands on Grab Turismo 5 for the PS3

I played it a little last night, it’s pretty unreal. The images are unlike any car simulation out there. Sure the Xbox 360 has Forza but Gran Turismo 5 blows Forza so far out of the water it’s not even funny.

The entire reason we bought a PS3 was for GT5, two years ago. Back when they released prologue and tricked people into thinking GT5 would be released right away. Dummies, that will teach them. Nice work, Sony.

No, they waited until Nov 24, 2010 to released GT5. I picked mine up that evening at my local Walmart. $59 later, I am driving a car I will never drive in real life and smashing it into a wall at top speed.

Why? Why not?

I wish these cars had machine guns. Then I would be complete.

It is now the weekend so perhaps I will get some valuable game time in. No worky on weekends. 

I think I maybe play video games around 1-2 hours per month. No joke. I am either working or hanging with Bryci and Jack. If you were Bryci’s fella, would you waste time playing video games?

Friday was date night but B wasn’t feeling 100% so rather than taking her out, I brought the date night to her. I went and ordered her favorite meal without her knowing, went and picked it up, came home, finished getting it ready and then served her as we watched a kick ass cartoon movie we’d both been wanting to see.

I just grabbed two new video games. I don’t play my Xbox 360 near what I should be, I get too wrapped up in work and forget I even own a tv it seems.  If I am not working, I want to be with Bryci or Jack (or both) (Jack is our Dog btw)

I never really had bought one of the N4S series, well, not at least in the last ten years. It’s an ooooold series yo. The new one is rated really high though on the gaming sites, and god damn, the cops have a Lamborghini? Yup, I’m down for this.

Now back to work. Learning high end video editing software that people go to school to learn is great fun. The software I am learning is the exact software that Hollywood makes their movies with. Fuck yes, my brain feels like it is about to explode. Good times.
