When we started the Bella Network we wanted to create something we’d be proud of. We wanted to run the sites with as little intervention as possible, so if a model wanted to do this or that, she could. Some networks tell the girls how to dress, what to shoot, they basically script everything. We’re not like that in the least. If you see Katie Banks do something, it’s because Katie Banks chose to do that. I think this works better, after all.. if it’s her site, she should do what she’s cool with, right?

Some networks out there jump through hoops for their fans, doing whatever the fan asks. I’ll be the realist for a moment and tell you this is just not a good idea. You simply can’t make everyone happy and if you’re trying to make everyone else happy, you’re not making YOURSELF happy. This is the same thing I tell the ladies of Bella. Don’t worry about what Joe, Nick and Thomas want, worry about what YOU (the model) wants. If the model is happy, she has longevity and she’ll calling the shots in her career.

The other alternative? The model tries to be everything she is not and she loses sight of who she is, what she wants etc. Before you know it she is doing things she didn’t want to do, and shortly after that, she’s done.. out of the biz. This is one of the biggest reasons models disappear in the biz, they got in too fast or they got shitty advice from someone they trusted etc. It truly sucks, and it happens daily.

If a model was to ask my advice for what to do, how to become successful in this industry, I’d tell her I have no idea. I’m not a model, what the hell could I know about that? I’d probably say.. BE YOU. Don’t try and be someone else because you think it will sell or someone has asked you to be that way. Be real, and fans will come. That’s sort of what we do when running Bella. We don’t try and be another network, we don’t look at the other sites and wonder if we should change things because they do this or that. We don’t care what the other sites are doing, we wish them luck. We do what we do, and we’re true to what we do, so hopefully it resonates with the fans rather than us trying to be something we’re not. Make sense?

We’re trying to have fun, that’s basically it. So far, so good!

I’ve worn Vans most of my life. When I met Bryci I had this one set that was easily eight years old.. they were worn out, tattered.. completely ripped to shit. I loved them but any lady will tell you, if a man’s got shit shoes, those shoes have gots to go.

She took out a mafia style hit on my old vans. They never saw it coming. One day they were chillin, next day they were history.

To be fair, she didn’t just throw out my shoes. She pointed out how shitty they had become. I couldn’t disagree with her on the topic.

Last Sept Bryci bought me this new set, (seen above) to sort of replace my old set.

They are so freaking comfortable. Seriously. I have other shoes, nicer shoes, even a nice pair of Steve Maddens I picked up in Vegas with B but these Vans, are where it’s at.

Just got home from running some errands with @Bryci.

Post office, grocery store, Tim Horton’s for coffee. You know.. normal Canadian things (eh)

So I’m standing there in line at Timmy Ho’s when I hear some people talking over my right shoulder. I glance over and it’s a table of five or six teenagers. 15-17 in age range if I had to guess. One of them says to his buddy.. dude, that’s Scott Nails. I hear this and knowing I have seen people make this mistake regarding me in the past, I look over. The entire table is now looking at me. I smiled, nodded, went back to facing the other way waiting for the clerk to say “next please”.

So there ya go. I made some teenagers day today.

Amazing news for science geeks/nerds our there, Neil deGrasse Tyson, astrophysicist extraordinaire has been signed to host the reboot of Carl Sagan’s tv series Cosmos. Seth MacFarlane is producing it for Fox for 2013 release. Cosms for those out of the loop, is an award winning series by Csrl Sagan.

Neil is unbelievable. Watch this video and shit your pants. This guy isn’t boring, he’s hilarious and smarter then me. How can you not like this guy?

I’m going to go buy some more books by Neil deGrasse Tyson , he’s a freaking genius.

If you’ve got an hour to play with.. this is awesome. Richard Dawkins (he wrote the amazing book the God Delusion and many others) and Neil deGrasse Tyson – The Poetry of Science. Neil outshines Richard so bad it’s dumb… but this might because he’s a astrophysicist and not a biologist.

Biology is amazing, make no mistake… but I’ll take physics every damn time.
