This lens will become one of my go to lenses for my work I think. Right now I love the 70-200mm 2.8G but it’s a huge heavy lens, needing a mono pod or tripod almost always. This lens will offer amazing bokeh me thinks.

Tuesday Bryci and I went to see Chronicle. We got there a little late and the fucker was packed so we went home instead, relaxed with some red wine and hung out all night enjoying each other’s company. Man, I gotta tell you.. it’s amazing to have someone in my life that gets me like she does. She can say things, and it’s like she was tappin into my thoughts or something. Sometimes she’ll start with something and I just sit listening, dumbfounded because she is basically saying what i am thinking, almost thought for thought. Damn I love this woman.

Like, this one time we were collecting squirrels so we could make jackets, she totally knew to leave the babies alone and just take the Mommies. That right there is knowledge, son. You don’t just fluke into it, you either have it or you don’t.

Come on kids, I was fucking with ya. Testing to see if you’re reading, skimming or still in muthafuckin AWE of the supreme matchin’ swim trunks seen above.

Disney’s own trailers for the movie have been good, but this last trailer I found, created by a fan, is superior in every way to the trailers Disney had created.

In short.. John Carter is a civil war soldier that is chased into a cave by apaches after he decides to leave the east and venture west. Whilst in the cave, he encounters something.. he doesn’t know what it is but it’s unlike anything he’s ever seen. There’s a flash… he’s knocked out. He wakes up, on Mars.

I know.. quite a stretch but like I said, an amazing tale.

Remember? I bet right now, if you were to ask yourself and be honest with yourself, you’d have an answer that just might be very different from what you’re doing with your life. Why? Why aren’t you doing what you wanted to do?

If you’re like most people, it’s because you needed to pay the bills and then life happened. That’s what we always say. I know people that have kids and they hate their jobs, but they need to pay the bills. They need to support their family. People seem to want better, but they just are not sure of how to get their safely, without putting their family or what they have at risk. Sound about right?

So what if.. and I’m just spit-ballin here… what if you took baby steps to reach your dream?

Start slowly, one day at a time moving towards your goal and before long, you’ve arrived.

My first jobs after high school as well as my second jobs, all the way into third, fourth, fifth jobs were retail hell. I worked at restaurants, I worked at the mall, I was even an electrician’s first year apprentice. I needed to survive, to pay the bills. I hated my job because it wasn’t what I wanted to do so in time, I bought a camera and slowly.. started to shoot.

Some background if you’re new here..

I grew up around photography. I grew up looking at Playboy, from the age of four onward. My Dad liked his Playboy, my Mom on the other hand, did not. I wanted to be the person that created this beauty. This was well before it was sexual. It was about beauty, the way the light danced across her body. The smile, the eyes, the colors. I wanted to create art, with people.

My goals weren’t about how much I’d make. I never stopped to ask myself if I’d be rich doing these things, or if I’d be able to buy a house. I asked myself how I’d be able to create art, and later I figured out a way to do it. Although at the time I didn’t see it as my escape to a new career, I saw it more as I’m doing what I want to do.

Aren’t we always told the key to life is to find something you love to do, and find a way to make money doing it?

I know a few guys that wish they could do what I do. So why can’t you? Nobody starts at the end, they start at the beginning, with a dream. They start slowly and over time, doors open and opportunities present themselves, or rather, you make opportunities present themselves. Get a camera, shoot a friend for free. Get experience and confidence. It does pay off.

Right now I am going through a waiting period and it’s driving me nuts. I am waiting for my new camera to arrive so I can start shooting again. The future is a lot brighter then it’s ever been and I’m excited. Bryci is excited, we’re both thrilled with what lay down the road. Just *wait* to see what we’ve got coming next…

I’m currently writing my next book, and I’m also planning something big photo wise. Life is good. I didn’t get here overnight, but I never stopped believing I could get here either. Sure you’ll have set backs and sure.. sometimes life will kick you in the nuts. So what? Get past it. What are the other options? Give in and be some person that let life beat you? Ewww. that would suck. I refuse to settle for less, and you yourself should always strive for better.

If you can chose between success and failure, and believe me when I tell you.. you CAN choose.. why not choose success? Stop worrying about what others think, what others do. Start worrying about how much you’re smiling.

It’s a lot more fun.

Hi James, just came across your book by accident and have just finished reading it (while at work!) Great read and now Im signed up to the rss feed on your blog and following you on twitter, (as a fan, NOT a stalker-promise!) I really liked your writing style and as a fellow photographer of beautiful ladies it was great to hear how you have made it all work. We have a very similar attitude to the way we work with and treat with respect the girls we work with.

Bottom line? You come a cross as a thoroughly decent fella. I wish you all the success in the world.

Book two was going to be a “how to” book more or less.

I get people asking me a lot of questions and while I am not wikipedia in this industry, I have been around 15 years doing the same job. You pick things up here an there. My mindset was if I can save a few people from making some bad choices, or save them some time by pointing them in the right direction, that’s great!

The one thing I wanted to make sure *didn’t* happen with this book, is that others thought this book might be a blueprint for assured success. There is no such thing. That should be common sense, but some people think life has short cuts. If you want success, work is the only thing that gets you there.

Each affiliate has a way of marketing. Some are really, really good and some, not as much but they keep trying. Then there are some that cheat and try and take short cuts. They get their accounts shut down so sure, if I can write about how to be a great affiliate, from a program owner’s perspective, maybe this helps someone. I can’t tell you how to be a kick ass affiliate from an affiliate stand point because I am not one. I have no exp in that arena. I can show you great affiliates, but they have their secrets as to how they do what they do. Even if I knew a few, that’s not my place to say… ya know?

As for as program running, site creation, finding girls or working with models, cam models, girls next door.. this I have knowledge in. Doesn’t mean I am right mind you. I mean, just because I look outside and see the sky is blue, you might look outside and see clouds and think I’m wrong. Possibly we’re both right, I mean… the sky is pretty damn huge, just as this topic is. I can show you what I have done and that would be my goal. Where I made errors, maybe save you some time?

So what’s the problem?

Well, honestly, I just don’t know if I want to write it right now. My heart is not in it at the moment.

I try and live my life by one simple rule when it comes to work.

Anything worth doing, is worth doing right.

I don’t want to half ass a book just to get it done. I’d rather write a book that is a monster book so when you get stuck on something, I can help you. Rather than me going.. oh, you want to know what script to use to randomly shift your images on your affiliate site so it always looks fresh even if it’s not? Sorry.. can’t help you. I’d rather be able to say.. oh, that’s this script (link) etc. When you have a question about camera lenses and what type of lens would be best to shoot a model in a tight cramped location versus a bedroom setting versus outdoors etc. Blamo – go to the equipment chapter and Bob’s your uncle. How do you meet girls to get practice shooting? (see this chapter) How do you sell your prints to magazines? (see this chapter) How do you avoid the pitfalls of the biz? (see this chapter) etc.

I don’t want to half ass the book, so right now, I think I am going to pause that book and write it here and there, release it when it is the book I want it to be.

So there’s the update on book two since some of you have asked.

I know, TMI but yeah, boy had loose skin. The hernia I had surgery for removed a decent amount of mass off my stomach. I mean, every time B sees me out of the shower, she says.. YOU SO SKINNY! I’m pretty sure she’s just being a sweetie, but without question, I am smaller than before.

Frustrating like a mofo though, I can’t start working out for another three months.

I was going to post some before/after type pic showing the scar originally, then last year what it looked like, then now what it looks like but that’s pretty graphic stuff and let’s face it, you’re not at my blog to scope my wounds.

I’m getting back to writing shortly as well. I was going to write yet another work related book… and I still very well might, but I think I might take a swing at fiction next instead. I have some ideas I’d like to try.. and yes, I’ll include Bryci in the books so they’re interesting. I will be writing about a central character, I just haven’t decided if “JamesDot” will also play a role in the books. He might.. not sure how/where is the thing.. so who knows? Maybe.
